Drottinn blessi heimilið  or “The Lord bless this home” is a phrase well known to most Icelanders. It first appeared in print in 1917, attributed to Páll Jónsson from Ægissíða, but it had long been embroidered and used to decorate the walls of homes throughout the country.

The phrase engraved on the hook is derived from old cross-stitch lettering, referencing the original form of the famous wall piece. The hook brings the phrase into the home in a new form, allowing it to serve its purpose as a hook or simply as an artwork.
